G.I. Joe’s Jinx: A Dive into Her Origins, Figures, and Untold Story

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a deep dive into to G.I. Joe Kimi Arashikage “Jinx”. Jinx was introduced in 1987 as a Joe recruit in GI Joe the Movie. She was an interesting character with a really cool figure. Jinx was the first female figure I received as a kid. She is one of my all time favorite figures. I was kind of sad when I couldn’t get her classic figure in the modern 25th style, so I did a custom figure. Not the best, but it worked for me. Figures aside I never really looked into Jinx’s back story. That is until I started rewatching Renegades. To me this is a What if type of origin story series. There was some interesting takes in this 26 episode series and they touch on Jinx being the Hard Master’s daughter. I don’t know why but I think a spoof song would be funny,  “I’m proud to be the Hard Masters daughter.”

. After seeing what a strong Ninja Jinx is and being a direct descendant of the Hard master I thought the 2021 film Snake Eyes, was going to elaborate on the Hard and Soft Master, and some of the other Arashikage members especially Jinx, but instead I think it just opened up more questions of why, just why! As I have stated in the past I never got into the comics so maybe there is some more meat there on Jinx.

I would love to see more of Jinx and maybe even a Jinx origin story growing up with Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes and how she was treated by the Hard and Soft Master. Her file card also says she was unaware she belonged to the clan and discovered it while vacationing in Japan. I think there is a great story there and I would love to see it come to life in a live action or animated series.

There is a story of why she did not know she was part of the Arashikage, how she joined the Joe team, and especially her love interests Falcon and Budo. Overall I think Jinx has always been an interesting character and I would love to see her story opened up a little more, along with many other great Joes who never really got their time in the spotlight. Make sure to check back for our next discussion.
